Trinity Lutheran Church

Bible Study Opportunities

Bible Study

At Trinity our hope is that adults will participate in Bible studies while the children are part of Spot L.I.G.H.T. on Sunday mornings. With this goal in mind, we offer two education hours on Sunday mornings at 8:15 and 9:30.

Adult studies are scheduled on a 12-week cycle with a Sunday for fellowship in between each quarter. The opportunities offered are varied and range from books of the Bible to parenting and family classes.

Building My Life On the Bible

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matt 7:24 What does it mean to build our life on God’s Word as they are found in the Bible?

Look forward to upcoming opportunities as we embark on Bible Study emphasis:

An opportunity of the Bible study emphasis is the Two-year Bible reading program that began on February 11, 2013. Won’t you consider taking part in the two year Bible study program? The time you spend in reading God’s Word will be a rich blessing to you.

Building My Life On The Bible

Sundays 8:15 am Dave Wilcox Room 147-149
Sundays 9:30 am Wally Bergmann Room 140-144 Room: 147-149
Saturdays 9:30 am Chuck Bahn Room 147-149
This class will discuss the previous week’s reading from the 2-year Bible reading program. It is NOT necessary to have completed the reading in order to participate in the class.

This quarter we will cover parts of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations and Ezekiel. Proverbs points us to wisdom that can only come from God. Ecclesiastes helps us understand that any searching for meaning in life apart from a relationship with God is meaningless. Song of Songs shows us God’s desire for the relationship between a husband and a wife and between God and His church. Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel are three of the four “major” prophets. Each received a call from God to take a specific message from God to his people. Lamentations is filled with laments or messages of sorrow. These messages helped God’s people look forward to the Messiah. This is quite a variety of books to read and discuss.

If you have not been part of the reading, this is a great quarter to start. As we wrap up the 2-year reading with the prophets we will see God’s love and care for his people is spite of their turning from Him in a world filled with many challenges.

Goals of this study are to:

  • Gain insight into God’s Word through reading individually and discussing with others.
  • Provide an opportunity to bring questions you may have from God’s Word.
  • Share with others insight you gained through God’s Word.
  • Fellowship with others who share this faith family.

Adult Information Class

Leaders: Trinity Pastors & DCEs
Sundays 8:15 am Room 143-145

This class is an opportunity to find out more about the beliefs of the Lutheran church and the ministry of Trinity. Anyone interested in taking steps towards membership at Trinity will want to be part of this class. Likewise, if you are currently a member and are interested in reviewing the core teachings of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and meet some new people, this will be an excellent opportunity for you as well.

During this class we will give the participants an overview of the six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism. The Biblical foundation of these teachings will be a key focus of the class. During class time, opportunities to discuss the real life importance of these teachings will also be encouraged.

Goals of this study are to:

  • To gain understanding of the core biblical beliefs of Trinity Lutheran Church as part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
  • To share in fellowship with others in the class.
  • To experience a Bible study if you haven’t been part of one before.
  • To review the biblical foundation of Trinity if you are currently a member.
  • Upon completion of this class, those wishing to become members of Trinity will be received through adult confirmation on November 30, 2014 at the 11:00 am worship service.

God The Great Designer

Leader: Shawn Hoffmann
Sundays 9:30 am Room: 147-149 Room: 140-144
God is an awesome designer. He planned and created a world that operates under consistent scientific and mathematical concepts. It is a creation made especially for us. This Bible study will dig into Scripture; looking at scientific concepts that God revealed about His creation long before man "proved" them. We will look at various topics, including creation of life; medical reasoning that accompanies some Old Testament laws, dinosaurs, physical laws, evolution, and current research on those topics.

Bring a Bible!

Goals of this study are to:

  • Build a continued appreciation and awe for God our creator.
  • Learn ways to answer questions about God's design in creation and how that relates to evolution.
  • Fellowship together as we dig through Scripture.
