The Fine Arts are an important part of the curriculum at Trinity. Educating the whole person means educating the mind, body and soul. Participating in choir, band, drama and art are facets of Fine Arts. Students develop knowledge of what is true and beautiful. They began their journey as life long learners of music, art and drama.
At Trinity Lutheran School, we strive to instill a love for music in each student. The music education program is designed to give students the skills they need to be active music participants for life. All music classes are taught by certified educators. Students in grades K-5 have general music classes twice per week in which they sing, move to music, play instruments, and develop music reading and writing skills.
The Sonshine Choir is for third, fourth, and fifth graders who desire to participate in a music enrichment activity. Students in grades 6-8 have choir twice per week. They may choose to sing in small ensembles and prepare solos for performance in Trinity's Vocal Festival in the spring.
Students also have the opportunity to audition for the Illinois Music Educators' Association District III Honor Choir. Both school choirs sing for school chapel services and worship services at Trinity Lutheran Church. The choirs can also be heard at various events in the community.
With many voices, we can give praise to a great and mighty God and be His witnesses. We ask parents and students to accept this opportunity and make a special effort to attend whenever possible.
